Veterinarian

Dr. Michael Kaufman was born in New York but raised most of his life in Tucson which he considers to be home with his wife Sennuy, a three legged chihuahua Ned, two cats Ruby and Bleu, and a Cockatoo bird named Lilly. Dr. Kaufman attended University High School and then later earned a Bachelors of Science degree from the Univesity of Arizona in Molecular and Cellular Biology with minors in math, chemistry, and physics. While he always had a love for animals, the idea of becoming a veterinarian was inspired near the end of his undergraduate studies. He was geared up towards graduate school to pursue the study of biophysics until he was inspired by another local veterinarian. The field of veterinary medicine seemed ideal when he discovered that science and humanity can intersect. He moved to up north to attend Colorado State University for a short four years to become a veterinarian. After graduating veterinary school in 1995, Dr. Kaufman completed a one year internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Sonora Veterinary Specialists in Phoenix. He then moved back to his home in Tucson to practice small animal medicine.

Dr. Kaufman is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, Arizona Veterinary Medical Association, and the Southern Arizona Veterinary Medical Association. Dr. Kaufman has served on the board of the Southern Arizona Veterinary Medical Association (SAVMA) since 2002 and is currently its president. One of SAVMA's main goals is to enrich veterinarians by providing continuing education for the veterinarians and their staff. Dr. Kaufman has valued education as a hallmark for keeping current and providing his patients with the best that veterinary medicine has to offer.
